Meet the Professional Animal Veterinarians & Team of Deer-Grove Veterinary Clinic in Cottage Grove, WI! Our mission is to provide the highest quality medical and surgical care to our patients and to help educate our clients so that they understand their pets needs and care. Tom Zelenski, DVM
Medical Director
Dr. Zelenski obtained his DVM from the University of Wisconsin School for Veterinary Medicine in May 2011. He has interests in pain management including integrative medicine modalities like acupuncture, laser therapy, and nutritional management. He is also has interests in internal medicine and dentistry, and is certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and Dane County Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Zelenski enjoys spending his free time with his wife, two daughters, and son, as well as his Great Dane Franz and cat Slick.
C Steven Frame, DVM
Veterinarian
Graduated from University of Missouri‘s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and has been at Deer-Grove since 1985. He specializes in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and does all the Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) surgeries at Deer-Grove Veterinary Clinic. A member of the Veterinary Information Network, he believes it’s important to always push yourself to continue learning because there is always a new way to approach old problems. Erin Pecore, DVM

Krista Pichette, DVM
Veterinarian
A Watertown, WI native, Dr. Pichette earned her Animal Sciences degree at UW-Madison and completed her veterinary training at Ross University, finishing her clinical year back at UW-Madison in January 2025.
Her professional interests include preventative medicine and ophthalmology. Outside the clinic, she enjoys hiking and training with her dogs, Hendrix and Herbie, and spending time with her cat, Primrose.
Nicolas Rubio, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Rubio was born and raised in northern Illinois. He attended UW Madison and received his bachelor’s degree in biology before going to Ross University for vet school. He completed his 4th year clinical experience at the University of Illinois before moving to Sun Prairie. His professional interests include soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, and dentistry. He is also fluent in Spanish as he and his family are from Colombia. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his partner and their dog Bubby, watching/laying soccer, and tending to his houseplants and aquariums.
Sara
Hospital Administrator
Sara grew up in Oregon, Wisconsin, and now lives in Madison. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin– Milwaukee and joined Deer-Grove Veterinary Clinic in April 2026. Before joining Deer-Grove, Sara spent 9 years working in a general veterinary practice, gaining extensive experience in client service and veterinary team support. Her professional interests include fostering positive workplace cultures and helping prevent burnout within the veterinary profession. Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with her Golden Retriever, Nala, and her cat, Malik, as well as with family and friends. She also loves music, reading, and crafting.
Logan, CVT
Lead Certified Veterinary Technician
Logan, our Lead CVT, graduated from Madison Area Technical College in May of 2007. He has been with Deer-Grove Veterinary Clinic since September of 2009 and very much likes the exposure that working in a busy companion animal clinic brings. From performing dental exams and cleanings, to assisting with specialty surgeries, Logan is enjoying providing excellent animal care with many fun and enthusiastic people who feel the same way towards animal health. He previously worked for the Department of Natural Resources in the Fish and Wildlife Health Labs, where he appreciated another aspect of animal care, but is very glad to be back in a clinic helping out companion animals.
Kayla, CVT
Kayla graduated from Madison College in 2014 from the Veterinary Technician program. She joined the Deer-Grove team in October of 2017. Kayla lives with her husband and two dogs Brewer and Lucy. In her free time she likes to go to her family cabin in Rhinelander. She enjoys spending time her family, kayaking and fishing.

Hannah
Veterinary Assistant
After living and teaching in Florida for a few years, Hannah recently moved back to her home state of Wisconsin. She joined the Deer-Grove team in September of 2020 and lives in Waterloo with her dog Doug. In her free time she enjoys bargain shopping, watching scary movies and reality TV shows.
Aven
Veterinary assistant
Aven has spent her childhood moving to 7 different states, but she has finally found a home in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She intends to attend MATC for the Vet Tech program. Aven started working at the Deer Grove Vet Clinic to be around animals to help further her career as a vet tech. She owns 3 dogs, Chief, Stevie and Dante.
Trinity
Veterinary assistant
Trinity grew up in Jefferson and Delavan, Wisconsin, and earned her degree in Animal Science from UW–Platteville. Her passion for animal care has led her through a variety of unique experiences, including nearly five years working at a veterinary clinic, time spent at a wildlife safari, and work with an IVF company. Currently living in Cottage Grove, Trinity shares her home with a lively collection of pets: two crested geckos, Cinnamon and Coby Jack; two hognose snakes, Spicy Noodle and Little Miss Plum; a ball python named Toast; and her beloved golden retriever, Reuben Melt. At the clinic, Trinity has a special interest in diagnostic imaging and particularly enjoys working with X-rays and ultrasounds. She loves being part of the process that helps veterinarians better understand and care for their patients. When she’s not at work, Trinity enjoys reading, hiking, photography, and spending time exploring new places with friends and family

Customer Service Representative
Misty joined the Deer-Grove Team in September 2024. After working almost 20 years in a shelter capacity, she decided it was impossible for her to leave the animal world. Jumping into vet medicine seemed like a great new adventure! Misty has 2 sons, Damian and Ian, and lives with her two dogs Titan and Lucy Loo, cat Bruno, ball python Skinny, turtle Clubby, dwarf hamster Sir Elton John, and bearded dragon Michael Jackson. In her spare time, she likes watching sports, kayaking, gardening, seeing the latest horror movies, reading up on spider identifications, and is obsessed with music.

Kristi joined the Deer-Grove team in May 2026. After a few years working in human healthcare, she realized her heart was with four-legged patients and decided to make the switch to veterinary medicine. She hopes to stay within the veterinary field as a long term career!
Kristi grew up & still lives in Edgerton with her wife, Kree, their dog, Bodie, and their three cats, Nala, Nellie, and Moon. When she’s not at work, you can usually find her watching reality TV, planning a road trip to just about anywhere, or spending time at home with her wife and their fur babies.
